The Story Behind The Name

I’ve always said that I wanted to start a blog, but felt I just wasn’t ready. But who’s ever ready for anything anymore? As life’s experiences continued to change, I’ve felt the urge to share them. However, sharing life’s experiences also meant that I needed to transparent on an open platform, which doesn’t come easy. I have always been private, especially with family affairs. So I decided that on Mother’s Day 2017 would be the day that I begin this shameless journey.

“Tea With Toi” had about three different names before settling on this one. And if you’re anything like me, you overanalyze everything! None of the others seemed to match up or align with the vision of my blog. After much contemplation, going back and forth, and finally ditching the others, I was scrolling through old Facebook pictures and came across the beautiful bridal shower that I had two years ago. It was absolutely beautiful! My bridesmaids outdid themselves. I remember when they asked my opinion about themes, I instantly thought the “tea theme” was very charming! Tea With Toi was born long before I made the final decision to start blogging pieces of my life.

But, here’s the thing – I’m not an avid tea drinker. I think I can count on ONE hand how many times I’ve actually had tea. And one of those was at my bridal shower. I’ve just always been a coffee drinker! There are so many tea flavors, I honestly don’t even know where to begin. Being that this is a new journey overall, I’m willing to find one that I really love and document my findings throughout. “Tea” With Toi is less about the actual noun, and more about the verb. More about social and sharing aspect of an afternoon tea!
